This is really cool. I submitted quite a few of my digital images to a stock image site. I’ve browsed through lots of stock image sites and there are quite a few out there now. Out of all of them I prefer Fotolio as they now have video footage as well as jpeg images and scalable illustrations too.
The guide lines are quite strict as the images are for professional use. Take a look at my small but growing portolio of stock images.
When I first read about submitting images for download the idea that each image would sell for a few pennies put me off. I began to wander what the point was in terms of a return in commissions especially if the image would only be downloaded for pennies . Then it started dawning on me very slowly. What I failed to see was the big picture. Everytime an image gets downloaded it is not deleted from the collection.
What does that mean?
It means that one image can be downloaded an unlimited amount of times. Now take into consideration that it is possible to upload thousands of images to Fotolio for them to be downloaded over and over again. So really the potential is huge. Looks like I’m using my digital camera more often.
This is absolutely amazing software. Maybe I’m getting a little behind on exactly what is out there but just take a look at this video. I didn’t even realise anything like this even existed.
Check out the whole new look of my website/blog. Take into consideration that I’m not much of a coder so I would have had serious problems and months of learning to create an ineractive site like this. Had it not been for WordPress and especially this new premium Theme, I don’t think my site would look as neat as it does. The WordPress theme I’m running is called Thesis and it’s just nothing like the other themes out there. I have so much more control and with so much more speed than before.
I took ages wandering about this worried about the price tag but I can honestly say that I’m a very satisfied customer. Go and check out the Thesis them for yourself.
I’ve just finished working on some graphics for a campaign group that deals with injustice in the UK. They are called 4WardEver UK. They approached me requiring a new logo header image for their new website and blog as well as images for Gravatars and Favicons. The original logo was slightly similar and because it was already becoming recognised by campaign members and visitors to their existing site, I decided to incorporate the original look and feel. Below you can a see a few of the completed images.
I designed a lead capture page template and was thinking about charging people for it but then realised that there was so many out there anyway and people were charging for all sorts of capture page templates already. So instead of not puttiing it out there I decided to give it away for free. I set [...]
