When I went to university my ‘historical and critical studies’ (HACS) lecturer said that I had a very clear-cut and quite a unique way of explaining things but it did not quite meet the academic requirements that a degree student needs. He also said that I write the way I talk and needed to reword most of my final dissertation. It was not meant as a compliment but in my head I took it as one and did not reword it.
Whatever style of writing you have I think it is brilliant if you can be identified as the author after someone reads it. That, to me, is a good writing style.
It matters whether I can communicate my message effectively enough for my readers to understand, not only what I have written, but also to be able to squeeze out the real essence of the message. In other words I would like the reader to be able to go away with something to think about and ultimately act upon it as a result.
What’s Your Style?
Do you think you have found a personal way of writing? Do you think others can identify you as the author when they read your articles? Do you write the way you talk or is your writing completely separated? Or am I completely wrong here?

Our writing style reflects our uniqueness. If we follow the common practice, it is likely that we will not be distinguished. We have to believe in our own style, not from what others’ opinion.
Thanks for droppping by Walter I’m glad you said this. I always believed this to be true but never really challenged myself enough. It can be quite discouraging when we are surrounded by people trying to force a specific method on us.
